The Cheshire Homes Society offers respite service on a short-term relief oriented basis to brain injured survivors, where bed availability permits. The respite program provides a supportive environment, which may assist the individual in dealing with personal problems or to offer the individual and his/her family a "vacation" from their home. Where the individual is experiencing some sort of crisis, consultation with a psychologist, psychiatrist and/or counsellor is strongly encouraged. Within the respite program, a private bedroom with a bed, dresser, closet, night stand and cable outlet is provided. The individual will be asked to participate in the household activities and chores depending on his or her needs and independence level. The length of stay within the respite program is dependent and the needs on the individual being served.
